Candy Bars

Candy Bars

Monday was the first day at school for Maxime. He was fortunate enough to be on a free trip to Israël for two weeks. He went there with other youths that have parents in the military. So he started High School late. This is his last year. I cannot believe how time flies. Geneviève left last year and next year it will be Maxime. Unless we move to Ottawa, where he wants to study, and that way we will be with him and also be reunited again with my oldest daughter

So for his first day back at school I decided to prepare him a treat for his return home. Since we love peanut butter with chocolate I did these candy bars. The first layer has butter, sugar, corn syrup & quick cooking oats. The top layer has chocolate chips melted with peanut butter. That makes a lot. The two boys really enjoyed the treat. Max was happy to eat mom's treat after he was away part of the summer. He also did a French course at the University of Ottawa for five weeks and competed at the Francophone Games in badminton in Edmonton, AB. So he was away part of the summer. I am so glad to have him back in the house. He brings so a joy to the family. Enjoy the recipe.
