Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

My daughter Geneviève is finally home. She flew from Ottawa on Dec. 18. She had not problem getting to Comox before the big storm. Now I'll be home for Christmas with my 3 kids. My husband is still in Africa and will join us Dec. 29.

Santa was really nice and delivered, at my door, a brand new KitchenAid Stand Mixer. So we have been baking lot's of cookies since Geneviève came home.

I saw this recipe on Joe's Blog and wanted to try it for a while. Since we were in the middle of a snow storm and the kids were outside cleaning the driveway, I decided to make them a surprise.

Wow these cookies turned out very good. We've been eating them, non stop, since yesterday.

Chocolate Pecan Bars

We have a snow storm today in the Valley. School finished earlier. So a treat was ready in the kitchen. I did not get help making these but got help eating them. These Chocolate Pecan Bars are now a tradition, on my table, every Christmas. So I made sure I hide some in the freezer for the big day. These bars are so good that you can't stop at one.




Nous avons une tempête de neige dans la Vallée. L'école a fini plus tôt. Donc une petite surprise attendait les gars dans la cuisine. J'ai fait ces barres qui sont maintenant une tradition sur notre table à Noël. J'en ai caché quelques morceaux, dans le congélateur, pour être certaine d'en avoir encore le grand jour. Il sont tellement délicieux. Vous voudrez en manger plus d'un morceau à la fois.

Mrs. Hockmeyer's Banana Bread

I made someone happy during the week-end. While Maxime is away, for three days in Vancouver, Mathieu had many games to play and ref. this w-end. So I knew exactly what treat to make for in between games. I saw the recipe for Mrs. Hockmeyer's Banana Bread on Simply Recipes and Cafe Fernando's blog. Since I had lot's of rippen bananas, on the counter, I whipped up this cake in no time. A friend happened to dropped by and eat two big pieces. That banana bread is very moist and good. This recipe is a keeper.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

I finally started baking again with the help of my son Maxime. We made those delicious Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies. They did not last long in the house. I love the addition of oatmeal, it makes the cookie crunchy. For a variation you can add chocolate chips to the mix. I will have to make another batch soon.




J'ai finalement recommencé à faire des pâtisseries avec l'aide de mon fils Maxime. Nous avons fait ces délicieux biscuits à l'avoine et beurre d'arachide. Il se font en un tour de main et disparaissent à vue d'oeil. L'avoine apporte une petit côté croquant. Pour une variante vous pouvez ajouter des pépittes de chocolat. Délicieux.

Back from Las Vegas

Sorry for the lack of posts but I did injured myself when I was in Las Vegas. I had a beautiful trip but the day before coming back to Canada I did get a really bad hematoma just by closing a door on my leg. Recovery is really long and this is so painful. I will try to post the recipe for the Spaghetti Sauce as soon as I feel better. I will also try to read your blogs and leave comments.
