Super Detox With 30+ Easy Smoothie Recipes
The Best of this Life

We had a lot of fun during the holidays with my family, we ate and drank too much. Now it's time to get back on track. This week I went snowshoeing two times. It's a good workout and it felt so good to be outside. In the next couple weeks I'll be taking my walks on the beach. More to come!

SMOOTHIES:
At this time of the year we like to go back to healthy eating and drinking. We like to make smoothies, they are quick to make and delicious. For 30+ smoothies recipes please visit The Best of this Life.

SALADS:
In the winter I like to make this Chicken Waldorf Salad, in this one I used Red Prince apples, they are so good at this time of the year. Another salad that I've been making a lot this year is the Spinach, Fennel and Read Pear Salad from Ricardo. This Sesame Spinach Salad from Michael Smith is also delicious.

SOUPS:
We like soups all year long. I know that some of you only make soup in the winter. Here are some good recipes to try:
-This French Onion Soup is delicious and it has white wine in it.
-This Grandma's Seafood Chowder would be delicious after a day skiing.
-I can't wait to try the Fairmont Seafood Chowder on Canadian Living.
-A favorite in Québec is Pea Soup
-Make a double batch of this Curried Squash Soup and freeze some for later

PULSES:
Did you know that 2016 is the International Year of Pulses (IYOP)? What is a pulse?

-The term 'pulse' refers to dried seeds like dried peas, lentils, chickpeas, edible beans. They are packed with micronutrients, are high in protein and fibre and low in fat.

I've been including pulses in my diet for years. Here are some recipes that I like to make:
-Red Lentil Soup
-Hummus with Pomegranate Molasses
-Lentil Stew in Acorn Squash

Recipes to try:
-Pulse Tacos from Chef Michael Smith
-Roasted Baby Potato & Lentil Salad with Green Goddess Dressing from Lentils Canada
-Black Bean Vegetarian Chili from Ricardo

  14. I go through such phases with smoothies! I will go smoothie-crazy for a week or 2, and then cut back to nothing for a while. I don't know why, because I love love love them while I am indulging! Need to get back into the groove again I guess; the Blueberry Muffin smoothie sounds (and looks) delish.
