Devil's Food Cake with Midnight Ganache


When my daughter turned 23 in July I baked a really yummy cake. It is a Devil's Food Cake with Midnight Ganache by Rose Levy Beranbaum from Rose's Heavenly Cakes cookbook. Don't skip on good quality chocolate when you bake this cake. The Ganache is so good that you can eat it by the spoonful. A good quality vanilla will make a difference in taste also, I used Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract, a must in your kitchen.

We had a busy week. My son was moving to Hong Kong to study for four months at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and we had to empty his room when he was living. I was sad but happy, in a way, to see him leaving. He always wanted to go aboard to study and finally got the chance. I will be in China in two months. I am in the planning process. Already booked a private chauffeur for the Great Wall and a private guide to visit Beijing. Still have to find places to sleep, what to do in Xi'an, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau. I have never been to Asia before. I heard that it will be a culture shock, but I am ready for it. When I was young I was dreaming of China. Coming soon. Any suggestions are welcome!
