Plum Bruschetta with Blue Cheese

Last week-end I visited a new Farmer's market in Ottawa. Since plums are in season I bought two baskets. Back at home I created a Plum Bruschetta with Blue Cheese as an appetizer. The tangy blue cheese complements the saltiness of the prosciutto and the sweetness of the plums. It's a simple appetizer that your guests will love. Make these at your next party!

What are your favorite bite size appetizers?


1 baguette, thinly sliced
30 ml olive oil
2 plums, thinly sliced
50 grams prosciutto
100 grams blue cheese
5 ml balsamic vinegar
5 ml honey
60 ml walnuts in pieces

1- Preheat oven to 350F. 
2- Place the baguette slices on two large baking sheet. Add the walnuts on the baking sheet. Drizzle 30 ml of olive oil on slices. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until light browned. Let cool at room temperature.
3- Meanwhile place the prosciutto in a large non-stick pan. Cook on medium-high heat for 4 minutes, stirring often. Remove from the heat and let rest at room temperature. Once cool cut in small pieces.
4- In a small bowl mix the balsamic vinegar and honey. Add the slices of plums. Mix well.
5- When ready to serve, spread about 2 teaspoons of blue cheese on each slices of baguette. Top with a small piece of prosciutto. Place 1 to 2 slices of plums on top. Garnish with walnuts pieces. Serve immediately.
